Down for maintenance

Well, I figured I’d at least set something up on the front page to let folks know things are being worked on in the background, and that I’m still alive. Hopefully I’ll get the renovated site up soon.

Slow goings

Things have been rather quiet around here, and it’s my fault for letting that happen. I do have a nasty habit of pushing something, then abandoning it, withdrawing from the world. I’m getting better at not doing such things, but it’s still a thorn in my creative side.

Hooray for backstory

Yesterday night and today I’ve spent researching and writing down the SGW Universe. It has occurred to me that I hadn’t really written down much beyond what’s in the scripts for SGW. The world of Lian and Cass is very rich, but existed only in my head, and perhaps in brief conversations with friends on IRC.

That changed last night, and while the majority of what was written will not be understood or even seen for a long time, it will provide a solid rule set to ensure I don’t violate any of the basic laws that the Universe exists by. Such rigorous adherence to story canon is essential in my eyes; I myself enjoy hard sci-fi. The limitations physics imposes on the characters serves to add more excitement. It adds to the story, and although SGW is a curious mixture of religion and the supernatural, it still takes place in a reality comprised of natural laws.

I’ve borrowed heavily from ideas originating in quantum mechanics to explain the afterlife. In the future I might put together a proper document illustrating the origins and evolution of the SGW universe to better aid those who might want to use such foundations as a springboard to their own stories.

For now I’m intent on finishing the first draft of the “story bible", of which the above history is included. I’ve worked through a rudimentary guide to the arrangement of the Choirs of Angels, and have just started putting down a description of Hell that is sure to be unique amongst stories of this type.

Getting art done

I still have way too many commissions lingering in limbo, and I want to eliminate the queue and get some fresh commissions down the pipe. Today I purchased some more drawing paper so I may complete the artwork I’ve been paid to do. I’ve been a bad, lazy wuff!

There is an amusing problem with clearing out the commission queue: During the attempted move I misplaced my USB cable to my scanner. It’s likely at my mother’s house, so I’ll have to make a trip over to see if I can dig it up. Only then will I be able to scan in my works to send to the proper individuals.

That’s all I wanted to write for now. I’ll try and post updates with better frequency!
